A little patchwork love for my camera
>> Tuesday, April 6, 2010
I love my Nikon D40 and take the thing everywhere. It's with me more than my phone, planner or even my wallet. I just couldn't stand to look at the Nikon strap that comes with it anymore, so I went searching for a solution. My mother happened to stumble upon a patchwork camera strap tutorial on the blog: Crap I've Made. I loved the idea so I went to work on my own.
I chose some random prints, ones that I love. It's a mix between Amy Butler, Joel Dewberry, Anna Maria, Heather Bailey, and Michael Miller Ta Dot. All the greats! I wanted a little extra comfort, since my camera can get a little heavy so I added Minkee in a zebra print to the inside of the strap. A pillow for my neck!
I also needed a cover for my lens, so I whipped up an elastic casing you can slide on easily. I used my favorite print from Heather Bailey's Pop Garden collection, just because I like it so much. I made sure to put Pellon Heavyweight fusible interfacing in the end of the case, extra protection for my lens.
I love love love my camera lens cover and strap.
I'll be posting a tutorial soon so you too can make your own camera lens case!

I just found your blog. I LOVE it. But, now that I've seen this post . . . I realize I totally saw you at market, too, and was crushing on your lens cover. Nice to "meet" you!
